What's your answer for the question about which group of Losties you would hang out with if you had your choice? Just curious. Mine was Sayid, Charlie, & Claire.

Robyn from Pittsburgh: You're killing us with no Lost scoop this past week. No episode, no scoop. Throw us a small tease or something, anything, please! I felt lost too. What will we do come June? OK, scoop you may or may not know: This week's episode is most definitely a game changer, and there will be at least one major death. Quite honestly, I'm expecting to cry harder watching this episode than I ever have watching this show. So bring out that industrial-sized Kleenex box, my friends. Also, we'll see the Man in Black's (Terry O'Quinn) true colors. And surprise, they aren't all rainbow-y. This episode and the episode that follows will most definitely have everyone talking. Next Tuesday, episode 15, is the one with no series regulars that also guest stars Allison Janney, and it has a very cool Aha! moment that will make you realize show runners Damon and Carlton did know where they were going from the very beginning. Can you believe the show is really all about alien polar bear ninjas? I know! Me neither! So, where's Lapidus?
I like how Locke Is a "Candidate" (metaphorically speaking) in the Sideways timeline. An ending I would totally dig for the character of Locke would be for him to somehow endi up going back to the Island to fulfill his destiny as the new protector.
Interesting how Cooper isn't evil in the Sideways timeline. My theory is that the Island has been destroyed, and the evil that goes with it is buried under water too? The problem is I just contradicted my previous theory. Obviously, Locke can't be the new "Jacob" if the island is underwater...
I loved all the Sideways Locke-Jack dialogue, and the submarine stuff was kick-ass. All in all, EPIC stuff tonight!
R.I.P Sun, Jin, & Sayid. Although this show is beginning to turn into Heroes -- where no one dies, even though they die. If you know what I mean.

It's interesting that a plane crash in one world paralyzed Locke, while a plane crash in another world healed him of his paralysis.

www.movieline.com/2010/05/23-questions-about-lost-episode-614-the-candidate-answered.php?page=2If you were a guard on a submarine docked on the beach of magical island — a submarine that’s the only viable mode of transport off that island — what would your most important responsibility be?
We’d guess your main duty would be to make sure that the hatch is locked when your boss is out taking care of his inscrutable business. And your second-most important job would be to keep an eye on the only point of entry into the sub in the unlikely event some armed intruders tried to sneak in through that hatch. It’s all right there in your “So You’ve Decided To Become A Security Officer On A Mysterious Billionaire’s Submarine” orientation binder, after the section on Never Sitting With Your Back To A Door You Should Be Watching.

I loved it, but I'm still annoyed with what they've done with Locke. I'm still not sure I understand all of it. That part with Jin and Sun was sad. I'm kinda surprised they killed them off. I like your theory about the island being destroyed. I could see that as a possibility.

Yeah, I loved last week's episode! This week... not so much. It had so much potential, and they blew it. Big time. The whole Jacob-Smokey/mythology explanation tonight sucked, especially compared to the brilliant Ab Aeterno. The writers said that they've known exactly how everything will pan out in the end from the very beginning, but judging by tonight's episode, that's total bullshit. It's like they dug themselves this huge hole, and had to fill it out quickly with an impromptu explanation before the finale. Halfway through the episode, those two stupid kids were still running around and playing games! And the whole "the island has a heart" and "you can't leave because I love you" thing just doesn't make any sense to me. It answered a few questions, but they answered them so poorly, I would have rather never found out at all...
BTW, Was the smoke monster trapped inside the light and then released when Jacob killed his brother, or did the spirit of his brother become the smoke monster?

I didn't care for last night's episode either. I've never really cared for the Jacob storyline anyway. I kinda felt like it was one of those episodes where they had to explain everything, but it just wasn't very interesting.

I still don't understand Charles Whitmore's role in everything.

Me neither.. Maybe he and Smokey are on the same page. Smokey wants off the Island, and Widmore want on. That would also explain the lack of security for the submarine.

I just saw Matthew Fox on Jimmy Fallon tonight, and they showed a clip from TONIGHT'S episode. WTF? I realize they film the show during the day, but it obviously doesn't air until after midnight, so what's the point?
Fox had an awesome line though. Fallon asked him a series of questions, one of which was, "Kate or Juliet?" to which Fox replied.... "Both at the same time." Nice.

I really thought you'd understand Whitmore's role better than I since it's already established that I'm confused as hell.
I have to say, I'm kinda disappointed with this season. I just don't like some of the explanations I've seen and as you pointed out before they've totally bypassed the reason Desmond was pushing that button. I guess I was expecting a more logical explanation instead of fantasy. Plus I'm totally confused as to who's dead and who's alive with those sideways stories and until last night I forgot about the time jump thing so I couldn't even remember what time period they were in. I'm not crazy about some of the sideways stories I've seen, like Desmond's. His was kind of disappointing. Although it is kinda cool to see how their lives intertwine. I like how they added Anna Lucia last night.
Sounds like I missed a good interview with Fallon. I don't usually watch his show, but I would have recorded it if I'd known.

I got really confused too last night about the time period. Miles said something along the lines of, "I lived here 30 years ago, which was about a week ago", and then I thought... wait, we're still in the 1970's time period over there? Are we???
I hate how they are disposing of characters without any sentimentality. Lapidis, Llana, and now RICHARD? Is he dead now... just like that?? If so, that really sucks. And Widmore -- he was killed far too easily and way to quickly. It was so anticlimactic.
Also, why is Smokey still coming out as Locke and not the Man in Black? Everyone knows he's not really Locke, so what's the point? And why would Smokey tell Ben that he plans to destroy The Island right after he promises Ben the Island all for himself?
But, I think it makes sense now why Jacob allowed Ben to stab him and didn't fight back... Jacob and Smokey can't kill each other. So, if Jacob can pass on his powers to a new guardian who is NOT him, then THAT person can kill Smokey. Right?
